The 6 Best Torches for Dabbing 420 Culture

If you’ve ever consumed cannabis concentrates before, then you know the most popular method is through dabbing. And unless you have an e-nail set-up, the only way to dab properly is by using a torch. While some people are still hesitant to use a torch for consuming cannabis products, there are plenty of great options out there to ensure a safe and reliable dabbing experience.

So, if you’re new to concentrates or simply looking to upgrade your current dab torch, follow along as we go over some of the top options available today.

Blazer Big Shot (MSRP $89.95)

If you’re a moderate to heavy consumer in search of a reliable dab torch, the Blazer Big Shot is the best value for your money, plain and simple. Not only is it incredibly durable but it also holds a much larger amount of butane than other torches on the market – which means less refilling and more dabbing. The Big Shot has an easy-to-use ignition system that produces a flame that works in virtually every environment. What more could you ask for in a torch?

The Big Shot is handcrafted in Japan and has a very sturdy and comfortable feel when holding it. The stainless-steel nozzle hides a brass anti-flame ignition kit that produces a mighty flame in any weather, blazing out at 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit (careful, the nozzle can get rather hot during use). When you’re not using the Big Shot, its extra broad base keeps it upright but will detach if it needs to go into storage. Overall, the Blazer Big Shot is an excellent torch that is worth the few extra bucks for people who are serious about dabbing.

Tōchi Torch (MSRP $499.00)

Haven’t heard of the Tōchi Torch yet? Scratching your head as to why it costs nearly $500? Don’t worry, many people have the same reaction when hearing about this high-end option. However, when considering the amount of money dabbers spend on butane each year, the price tag gets a little more justifiable.

You see, the Tōchi Torch is a completely flameless heat source that allows consumers to accurately dial in their desired dabbing temperatures (150-1200 degrees Fahrenheit) through heated forced air. The “torch” is powered via electricity and has a completely adjustable interface, making it easy to raise/lower the heat source to fit perfectly with any rig. Additionally, Tōchi Torches are all made in Milwaukee, Wisconsin so you can rest easy knowing you’re supporting an American-made product and business.

The Tōchi Torch streamlines the dabbing process with zero cool-down time – simply heat up your banger and you’re ready to dab instantly!

If you can get past the initial $499.00 investment, the Tōchi Torch is a no brainer for anyone who enjoys cannabis concentrates. Picture this, the average dabber spends roughly $5-$15 per can of butane to fill up their torches. Moderate to heavy consumers might need to refill their torch several times a week, meaning several cans of butane as well. Not to mention many people spend hundreds of dollars on quartz bangers each year, which are degraded over time via butane flames. Investing in a flameless heat source will not only save you hundreds of dollars on butane each year but also preserve your quartz for longer periods of time.

In an independent study conducted by a PotGuide staff member (a heavy consumer) using a Blazer Big Shot torch, an average of 2 cans of butane were used per week. The butane being used for the study runs $8.99 at a local head shop in Denver, Colorado. That’s $934.96 per year on butane alone! Even half that amount justifies the purchase of a Tōchi Torch in our opinion. Plus, you won’t be contributing countless cans of butane to a landfill!

While we haven’t personally tried out the Tōchi Torch just yet, we’re excited to see companies innovating in the concentrate space and creating products specifically designed to improve the dabbing experience. Expect to see flameless heat sources like the Tōchi Torch gain popularity in the coming months!

Vector Nitro (MSRP $70.00)

The Vector Nitro torch is incredibly popular for a reason. It’s cost-effective and does what it’s supposed to do. The torch is a wonderful option for anyone looking for effective simplicity. Vector also offers a lifetime warranty for all their torches, no questions asked! Even without an original box or receipt, Vector honors its product warranties and will always make sure your torch is functioning properly.

Moving onto the specifications, the Vector Nitro torch stands about seven inches tall and features a safety switch that allows you to ignite the torch with one hand. A textured canister ensures an easy grip and comfort during use. The Vector Nitro also has a feature that lets you control the width of the flame. If you want a small, sharp flame, you got it! If you want a wide, softer flame, it’s yours! This level of control, combined with its durability, make the Vector Nitro torch a must-buy if you’re in the market for something that is worth its cost.

Stok R Series Mega (MSRP $49.99)

The Stok R Series Mega Torch has one of the most eye-catching designs on the market. It’s simple to use, safe and effective at quickly heating nails or bangers. Its sleek design was created with safety in mind, too. It offers a childproof lock as well as a separate lock for the flame. On top of that, there’s an easy-to-access flame adjuster and intensity lock to help you dial in your desired flame size and intensity.

Even though it sounds technical, the design of the R Series Mega is quite eye-appealing and intelligent, featuring a state-of-the-art “Sure-Fire Instant Ignition” that allows users to light the torch with the flip of a switch. The Stok R Series Mega fires at around 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit and can produce about a 9-inch flame.

A wide base keeps it sturdy when not in use and, like the Vector Nitro, it is backed by a lifetime warranty. At only $49.99 the Stok R Series Mega is an effective and affordable option for dabbers of any experience-level.

Newport Zero (MSRP $45.00)

The Newport Zero is the second-most cost-effective torch on our list. If you’re looking for a solid tool for a low-cost, this is the torch for you. Though its design is quite similar to the Stok and the Vector, the Newport’s low price is a result of its lower-grade components. Despite its flaws, this is an excellent torch for anyone on a budget.

The low cost and lifetime warranty (remember to keep the box and receipt!) ensure that you won’t have any problems with your torch that can’t be alleviated. This is reassuring because the Newport Zero has some unique features that make it user-friendly but less sturdy than other torches on this list.

Besides being lightweight, its quick-refill design is the most notable. And if you’re in a hurry and you accidentally touch the nozzle, don’t worry; it remains cool to the touch even after the flame burns at over 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit. Be careful not to press down too hard on your igniter however, as the plastic components have been known to break rather easily. Still, if you find yourself in need of a quality torch for a decent price, the Newport Zero is a great option to consider.

Bonjour Professional Cooking Torch (MSRP $29.99)

For anyone new to dabbing or on a limited budget, this torch is for you. Sold in Bed Bath and Beyond stores throughout the country, the Bonjour Professional Cooking torch has been widely used as a cheap alternative to branded dab torches for quite some time. The torch actually looks quite similar to a Vector Nitro and is intended for crème brûlée purposes in the kitchen.

While this torch is obviously a cheap option that wasn’t designed specifically for dabbing, it works surprisingly well and will get the job done if you need to purchase a cheap and easy option. Plus, if you’re ever traveling into a new state without your torch, the Bonjour Professional Cooking torch is a great choice for a cheap substitute to help you dab up on your trip.
